Luminous Chess Board is a simple two-player implementation of standard Chess or Grand Chess. It does not play against you, does not save boards, and doesn't even check to make sure you make legal moves. What it does do is this: the squares on the board are lit with color that represents the influence of each piece.
Try it. Play a game or two on it. I think you'll like it.
The Grand Chess rules are as described by Christiaan Freeling. Basically, it's the same as regular Chess, but on a larger board, and with two extra pieces:
The cardinal combines the movements of a knight and a bishop. It can move as either of those pieces would.
The marshall combines the movements of a knight and a rook.
Both of these are very powerful pieces, roughly on a par with the Queen, and should be used carefully.
